Alongside these men, Katrin Davidsdottir became the fourth woman in CrossFit women’s history to record ten qualifications to the Games this year joining Annie Thorisdottir (12), Rebecca Voigt Miller (10), and Kara Saunders (10).

All of Katrin’s top-three finishes came in the years following her first Games miss in 2014. With zero top-three finishes in 2021, we will have to wait and see if her failure to qualify for the Games in 2022 will be enough motivation to catapult her back into the fight for the top.

Will History Repeat Itself?

Katrin Davidsdottir Games 2016

Katrin solidified herself in CrossFit Games history back in 2015 with her first CrossFit Games win and again in 2016 with her second win. Everything she’s done since then has demonstrated her dedication to chase excellence, to overcome setbacks, to put her head down and work. After all, her ten Games appearances aren’t consecutive.

Katrin failed to qualify in 2014 then placed 2nd in 2015 Regionals and went on to win back-to-back CrossFit Games Championships. Fast forward to present day, she failed to qualify in 2022 then placed 2nd in 2023 North America West Semifinals. Which begs the question: could we see a repeat of the 2015 Games Katrin?

Interesting choice to include top 3 finishes at the 2020 games stage 2, where there were only 5 competitors. That skews things a little, don’t you think? That’s aKim to a top 24 finish in a Field of 40 if you keep the percentages the same. I know they had to succeed in Stage 1 to even get there but top 3 of 5 is not the same when there is nobody to “middle” them.

Great point, we’ve added a note identifying those circumstances.

I know what you meant but for newer readers, stating what “M”, “W”, and “G” mean somewhere in the article will make the History of Individual Performance make more sense. Love the article as a whole!
